How to run Scala script in Intellij

0

A similar question has been asked earlier but its answer doesn't solve my issue.

I have a working Scala project in Intellij. I thought to create a new directory in it in which I can do some "rough work" (basically create adhoc scripts). The directory is in the same level as app folder. The new directory is called roughWork. It is one scala worksheet and one scala script.

I am able to run the worksheet but not the script. I am unable to find out how to run a script in Intellij

The script is simple

object HelloWorld{

def main(args:Array[String]): Unit ={
println("hello world");
}
}

I right-clicked on the script file and clicked Run HelloWorld but got error Error: Could not find or load main class HelloWorld. I suppose it could be because java can't find the class in the classpath. How do I set this in IntelliJ and shouldn't Intellij do it for me?

  • You have to extend from the App trait. See this answer for a similar problem
