Insert input from entry widget to PostgreSQL DB

0

I am creating an app using python tkinter.

I initially used sqlite and used the following code which worked as required to insert input from entry widgets to the database.

One of the fields is an auto increment integer set as the PK.

cur.execute("INSERT INTO asset VALUES (NULL,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?)",(type, model, cost, snum, anum, location, condition, name))

But i want to switch to postgres.

I read somewhere that we use %s instead of ?, but when i changed to:

cur.execute("INSERT INTO asset VALUES (NULL,%s,%s,%s,%s,%s,%s,%s,%s)",(type, model, cost, snum, anum, location, condition, name))

I got the following error:

File "C:UsersUSERPycharmProjectsuntitledmarissa.py", line 13, in insert

cur.execute("INSERT INTO asset VALUES (NULL,%s,%s,%s,%s,%s,%s,%s,%s)",(type, model, cost, snum, anum, location, condition, name))

psycopg2.IntegrityError: null value in column "id" violates not-null constraint

DETAILS: Failing row contains (null, Laptop, HP, 45000, HGUK0IUJ, -, NAL, Working, OK).

Please, assist.
