How to run Scala script in Intellij
A similar question has been asked earlier but its answer doesn't solve my issue.
I have a working Scala
project in Intellij
. I thought to create a new directory in it in which I can do some "rough work" (basically create adhoc scripts). The directory is in the same level as app
folder. The new directory is called roughWork
. It is one scala
worksheet
and one scala
script
.
I am able to run the worksheet
but not the script
. I am unable to find out how to run a script in Intellij
The script is simple
object HelloWorld{
def main(args:Array[String]): Unit ={
println("hello world");
}
}
I right-clicked on the script file and clicked Run HelloWorld
but got error Error: Could not find or load main class HelloWorld
. I suppose it could be because java
can't find the class
in the classpath. How do I set this in IntelliJ and shouldn't Intellij do it for me?

You have to extend from the App trait. See this answer for a similar problem
