SSAS Memory Allocation Failure - consider upgrading to 64 bit Excel
Quite a few users at my company are having issues viewing granular level data in the multi-dimensional cubes.
When users attempt to return detail level data into the cube it will often error by saying they need to upgrade to 64 bit excel.
Most users are on 32-bit excel and it errors at at around 1.5GB memory usage.
I've tried 64 bit excel and performing the same action often 4-5GB memory so 64 bit isn't ideal.
Users often try to fetch 200-300k rows even when they use hierarchies. I know cubes aren't designed for low level analysis but it's just how the business works with them.
Could performance be helped by changing the memory allocation settings on the SSAS instance?
Thanks
