How do I trigger EMR Jobs based on new S3 files metadata

0

This is my use case, I had data arriving in s3 and I want to trigger EMR jobs to run based on the data that has been received. The EMR jobs/steps will however not be processing just the received data but will be using the metadata (from the file name of the s3 file) to update existing data (which may require fetching other old data from s3), so in short I need to solution to pass metadata to EMR about new files added to s3.

I have 3 options, set up SNS notification to trigger AWS lambda functions which use boto3 to add steps to a running EMR cluster with the metadata details, or to set up SNS notifications to queue up the tasks on SQS and have an EMR step that periodically fetches metadata from SQS, or use data pipeline (and Lambda?) to trigger the EMR steps.

What makes more sense for those who have experience in this kind of scenario?

I would have a S3EventNotification trigger a Lambda. In that Lambda figure out what job to do based on the S3 files metadata.
