Schema hexametri dactylici


Hexameter[1][2] sive hexametrus[1][2] (a Graeco ἐξάμετρος 'ex sex metris compositus') est versus poesi Latinae nec non Graecae communis, qui ex sex metris constat. In singula metra ictus cadit.


Pedes usque ad quintum dactyli (- ˘ ˘) aut spondei (- -) esse solent, sextus tamen spondeus aut saepius trochaeus (- ˘). Dactylicus appellatur hexameter cui pes quintus dactylus est, spondaicus autem cui pes quintus spondeus. Vergilius ipse clarissimus hexametro dactylico semper usus est.
